Tommy Hines visited us today and thoroughly explained the organization of the South Union Shaker Village.
The longest-lived Shaker community in the West, South Union Shaker Village in Auburn, KY, was active from 1807 to 1922. The architecture of this Shaker village reflects a regional Southern influence, quite distinct from the villages of the eastern United States.It was a fascinating presentation as Tommy helped us to understand this particular faith and the ethics of the Shakers.
Tommy has been an active volunteer at Morgantown Care & Rehab for many years. He loves visiting with our elders even when he is not sharing in various programs and presentations connected to his work.
