Morgantown Care & Rehab has been added to the registry for the Eden Alternative, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to culture change in nursing homes and the belief that aging should be a process of continued development instead of decline.
Much of the organization’s work has revolved around de-institutionalizing the culture and environment of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. The Eden Alternative’s core concept is simply to view places where elders live as ‘habitats for human beings’ rather than ‘facilities for the frail and elderly.’
Morgantown Care & Rehab is the 13th Signature HealthCARE center – and one of only four facilities in Kentucky – to be added to the Eden registry. Signature recently deepened its commitment to the Eden principles with a new training initiative (READ MORE).
In order to join the registry, nursing homes must undergo a lengthy process that requires them to reach a number of milestones demonstrating their commitment to the Eden principles.
